Main Street: At the Heart of the Community

Heritage Week will run from February 16 to February 22, 2015.  The national theme "Main Street: At the Heart of the Community" celebrates the social and economic history that makes a community's downtown or Main Street, an integral part of a community's past, a vibrant part of the present, and a significant resource to preserve and promote for the future.

Heritage Canada has a great list of suggested activities to celebrate Heritage Week in your community. Click here for Heritage Canada information.

Look for more information about Heritage Week 2015 on Heritage BC's website.

Merging Time Photograph Exhibit at Vancouver Archives

The newest Merging Time exhibit is now on display at the City of Vancouver Archives' gallery until February 27, 2015.

Students in Langara College's professional photography program produce stunning images that 'merge' historical photographs of Vancouver from the Vancouver Archives with contemporary images of the exact same location.  The results are a stunning mixture of past and present come to life.

Have Your Say on Heritage Activities in BC

The Heritage Branch of the BC Government has engaged MNP to assess the economic and social impacts of heritage related activities to the province.  The results from the study will help to demonstrate the importance of the activities to the public, government and other stakeholder groups.

As an important step in the study, MNP is looking to collect data from heritage-related organizations through a survey.

» BC Heritage Branch Survey

If you have any additional comments or questions about the survey, please contact Jacob at jacob.helliwell@mnp.ca or 778-374-2158.

Thank You!
