HERITAGE BC PROGRAM
Get on the Map: War Monuments and Memorials in B.C.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Heritage BC is excited to announce a new mapping project, Get on the Map: War Monuments and Memorials in British Columbia. Across Canada there are over 6,000 monuments and memorials dedicated to Canada's war dead as the First and Second World Wars touched nearly every community in Canada, big or small. Heritage BC is seeking the public's help to collect information about all the World War monuments and memorials in communities across British Columbia.

This information will be used to create an interactive online map that will serve as a valuable educational resource about Canada's war effort and the effects on local communities. It will also provide opportunities for local communities to share their stories, heritage, and history.

Submit photographs, stories and other information about War Monuments and Memorials near you using the online form before 5pm on March 1, 2016.

This project is funded in part through the Department of Canadian Heritage's World War Commemorations Community Fund, Young Canada Works and generous in-kind support from Split Mango Web Designs (who supported the Vancouver Heritage Foundations' Heritage Register map).
