Nominations are now open for Heritage BC’s Annual Awards Program, recognizing the outstanding and significant achievements in heritage conservation of individuals, organizations, groups, businesses and governments in communities across B.C. The award-winners will be feted at the Awards Ceremony and Gala, held during Heritage Week in February 2017.
Awards will be presented in four categories: Heritage Conservation; Heritage Education and Awareness; Heritage Planning and Management, and the Distinguished Service Award.
Heritage BC’s Awards recognize best practices and high standards in heritage conservation, based on the national Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. The awards also emphasize innovation and commitment to heritage conservation that contributes to environmental, economic, social, and/or cultural sustainability.
“This is a fantastic event that allows us to recognize the best in the heritage sector,” says Heritage BC chair, Gord Macdonald. “It is a time to connect with colleagues, to celebrate our achievements, and a time to reflect on what is most important to us and how our work influences the world around us. These are the values that are most important to us as we approach Canada's 150th anniversary."
Individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, government agencies, and other entities are eligible for entry. Projects nominated for an award must have been completed within the past three calendar years.
Special framed certificates will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony and Gala held during Heritage Week.
Nominations can be submitted through Heritage BC’s website until the end of the day on Friday, November 4, 2016.
