HBC ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Register Online Now!

Again this year, the conference program is short and to the point to keep costs to a minimum and practical impact at a maximum. The program on Friday, October 19, at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby BC, will focus on the business case study for Heritage BC currently underway, the impacts on and future direction of the Heritage Legacy Fund, the provincial government’s current heritage priorities, and the impact of all of this on heritage conservation at the community level, where it really matters. The AGM and annual awards ceremony will also be part of the program, along with the tour of Strathcona on Saturday, October 20.

PROVINCIAL CABINET SHUFFLE

Heritage Stays Put

The provincial cabinet shuffle on September 5 has not affected heritage. Steve Thomson remains Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, which includes the Heritage Branch, which is good news for heritage. Mr. Thomson is now well briefed on the issues and has shown real support since taking on the portfolio.
