Cole Island and Naval Base:

Sponsored by Cultural Resource Management Program (CRMP), University of Victoria


Meet at Cole Island Navel Base and you will be guided through stunning designated heritage park featuring naval buildings dating back to 1860 with Richard Linzey, Ben Gourely and Gord Macdonald.

The tour of the Naval Base includes: visit to the Riggers Shop, and views of the Admiral’s House, Duntze Head QF battery, Bickford’s Tower, Works Yard and timber seasoning sheds, and dry dock and pump house. The conservation and buildings archaeology tour of Cole Island includes the guardhouse, shell stores and powder magazines. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Registration ends Monday May 1st

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled tour at 1:30PM

Be advised that comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended and a boat ride will be part of the tour

Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the naval base

This tour will run from 1:30pm to 5:00pm

Our Living Languages:


Meet at Royal British Columbia Museum and experience a personalized tour of a ground-breaking, interactive exhibition that celebrates the resilience and diversity of First Nations languages in BC in the face of change. Pre-registration is required. Registration ends Monday May 1st.

The tour will be hosted by the First Peoples’ Cultural Council, the co-partners in the creation of this exhibition. 

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled tour. Tour begins at 2:00PM

The designated meeting spot at the museum will be in the Clifford Carl Hall, which is located beside the lobby. There you will meet a Heritage BC representative who will introduce you to your tour guilds. 

This tour will run from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Open Doors Victoria


Join John Somogyi on this exclusive walking tour of otherwise inaccessible buildings, including the Maritime Museum, Hook Sin Tong Charity Building and Chinese School Temple, Masonic Temple and the Odd Fellows Hall. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. ($25)

The group will gather at the Browns Social House. Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour start time of 1:00PM. 

This tour will run from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
