Position: Museum/Heritage Site Interpretive Guide
8 week position, 35 hours per week

Rate: $16.00/hour

This position is partially funded through HRSDC and is open to eligible applicants who are returning students between the ages of 18 and 30 years.
The Friends of Fintry Provincial Park Society has an opening for a full-time Interpretive Guide at the Fintry Estate. Working under the supervision of the Curator/Executive Director, the employee will receive hands-on work experience and job training in museum and heritage site work and research pertaining to the history of the Fintry Estate. Tasks and responsibilities include leading and assisting with museum tours and programs, taking bookings, assisting with museum events, lectures, educational programming and outreach, and program development of heritage/history-based tours, presentations, scavenger hunts and activities. The Guide will greet visitors, assist with office and administrative tasks, manage the museum gift shop and work with staff and volunteers in museum projects and research. The Guide will also work with staff to develop new or virtual programming to ensure staff and visitor safety and distancing. This position includes optional on-site accommodation in the student apartment in the heritage Manor House. Some scheduled weekend and evening work will be required.
This is an ideal opportunity for a student in History, Museum Studies, Education, Ecology/Zoology and/or International or Cultural Studies who would like to gain practical experience in his/her field.
