City of Burnaby Archives Clerk (December 2)

Corporate Services CITY ARCHIVE – OPERATIONS

 Applications are invited for the following position as of Monday, November 23, 2020 and must be received by 4:45 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 quoting:

This is technical clerical work involving responsibility for appraising and describing municipal records according to established archival standards. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in the application of established archival standards and procedures while complex technical problems are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of conformance to established procedures and practices. Describes records at the fonds, series and file level; prepares multi-level inventory and related indices using database software. Organizes record retrieval from BC Records, scans documents, prepares materials for storage; removes staples, paperclips, glue residue and file folders; labels and stores records according to archival standards. As required, appraises documents according to established retention schedules; identifies items to be purged; shops for goods using SAP. Provides assistance to patrons and municipal staff in searching archives for specified documents and information. Performs related work as required. 

 Qualifications include completion of post-secondary archival training plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the Rules for Archival Description and of archival storage practices. Sound knowledge of the history, roles and responsibilities of the Clerk’s Department. Ability to appraise and describe archival records; to prepare and maintain a variety of indices and files; to search archival records for specified documents and information; to use software applications related to the work performed. BC Driver’s Licence would be an asset. 

SALARY: $4,261 – 4,432 – 4,616 – 4,809 – 5,007/month (Pay Grade 17) 

STATUS: Regular Full Time 

SCHEDULE: 70 hours bi-weekly 

SPECIAL NOTES: Normal for CUPE 23 Inside Collective Agreement
