Bring the whole family for an amazing time making pottery together — creating memories and handmade pieces that will last a lifetime!\n\nThis experience is suitable for beginners age 5 and up and all materials will be provided. Join us for a screening of Finding Nemo\, on Monday\, February 16th\, then visit the Cannery to compare the fish from the movie to those that live in the Pacific Ocean!  \nMonday\, February 16th\, 2026 – Finding Nemo screenings: $5 /person. Youth (<18) must be accompanied by an adult.  \nThis year we have an exciting add-on option—join us for a screening of “Finding Nemo” inside our Cannery Boiler House Theatre and experience the fishy fun of this family film. SUMMARY:What's in the Pot? A Celebration of Salt Spring Island's Farming Tradition
DESCRIPTION:An open invitation to the people of Salt Spring Island and beyond to learn about the impact of agriculture on our island’s history and traditions\, to discover the forgotten stories of the various people\, families and communities\, their amazing food harvests\, and to discuss contemporary food security\, who we are and where we come from. \nIn recognition of this year’s theme Stir the Pot\, we invite islanders and visitors to find out What’s in the Pot?  and explore what they know about the history of production of food on Salt Spring Island. What’s in the Pot? seeks to fill some of the gaps in local knowledge and identity. \nThe event will be held daily from 11am to 3pm\, from Monday\, February 16 to Sunday\, February 22 at the Salt Spring Museum on the grounds of the Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute on Rainbow Road. DESCRIPTION:An open invitation to the people of Salt Spring Island and beyond to learn about the impact of agriculture on our island’s history and traditions\, to discover the forgotten stories of the various people\, families and communities\, their amazing food harvests\, and to discuss contemporary food security\, who we are and where we come from. \nIn recognition of this year’s theme Stir the Pot\, we invite islanders and visitors to find out What’s in the Pot?  and explore what they know about the history of production of food on Salt Spring Island. What’s in the Pot? seeks to fill some of the gaps in local knowledge and identity. \nThe event will be held daily from 11am to 3pm\, from Monday\, February 16 to Sunday\, February 22 at the Salt Spring Museum on the grounds of the Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute on Rainbow Road. Learn about the many stories and people that connect us to the places that matter in our communities. \n2026 marks the 15th year of Places That Matter\, Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s ongoing project that includes an information-rich website that expands on the original Places That Matter (PTM) plaque program. A project created in 2011 to celebrate Vancouver’s 125th anniversary as an incorporated city. DESCRIPTION:An open invitation to the people of Salt Spring Island and beyond to learn about the impact of agriculture on our island’s history and traditions\, to discover the forgotten stories of the various people\, families and communities\, their amazing food harvests\, and to discuss contemporary food security\, who we are and where we come from. \nIn recognition of this year’s theme Stir the Pot\, we invite islanders and visitors to find out What’s in the Pot?  and explore what they know about the history of production of food on Salt Spring Island. What’s in the Pot? seeks to fill some of the gaps in local knowledge and identity. \nThe event will be held daily from 11am to 3pm\, from Monday\, February 16 to Sunday\, February 22 at the Salt Spring Museum on the grounds of the Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute on Rainbow Road. The event is family-friendly\, drop-in\, school tours\, seniors and youth are all welcome. \nWalking tours will be provided by volunteers.\nAdmission is free\, donations are much appreciated. \nSalt Spring Island “will always be remembered as absolutely the first agricultural settlement in the then Colony of Vancouver (Island)” – Edward Mallandaine in his British Columbia Directory\, 1887
