CBC/Radio-Canada Building, Vancouver

Located at 700 Hamilton Street in Vancouver, this building is valued because it highlights the arrival of national and bilingual French-language media in British Columbia . CBC / Radio-Canada’s participation in the city’s cultural life, both in its broadcast programs and through its public artistic events in its place, reinforces the critical role played by this institution for both official language communities.

Prior to the completion of this structure in 1975, Radio-Canada’s Première Chaîne (First Channel) in British Columbia, opened on its premises at the Vancouver Hotel on December 1, 1967. This French radio network stretched from Labrador to British Columbia.
