Honouring Our Community Hall Volunteers – sharing heritage memories & appreciation

From the best lentil stew recipes to the nubbiest knit caps, Hornby Island’s contribution to BC Heritage and culture is as unique and resourceful as its residents and architecture. On Sunday, February 23rd, we will celebrate our past and present Community Hall volunteers and staff in the important work they do to keep holiday fairs and markets, various shows and festival events, community meetings and classes, and much more available for all at this special heritage resource, which encompasses different layers of Hornby’s history. We will also celebrate our century old Hornby Island Community Hall making history. The Hall joined the BC Register of Historic Places and the Canadian Register of Historic Places, following adoption of a new Hornby Island Community Heritage Register by Hornby Island’s Local Trust Committee, September 2024. Refreshments, snacks and cake will be available. www.hirra.ca
