Heritage BC Annual Conference, The Main Thing taking place in

Rossland B.C., October 1-3!


Join us in historic Rossland, B.C. for the Heritage BC Annual Conference. Over 100 of British Columbia’s architects, planners, archivists, consultants and non-profit leaders will come together for this year’s conference, which takes place in a variety of Rossland’s great heritage buildings.

Come  learn how to create a dynamic downtown by refreshing and renewing your revitalization strategies and leveraging your heritage assets to discover tourism opportunities and sustainability practices.

Participants are eligible for up to 6.75 CPL LUs (Continuous Professional Learning Units) through the Planning Institute of B.C. (PIBC).

1.5 Core & Non Core AIBC credits available for selected workshops.

Bus Tour to Nelson

Our bus tour to Nelson includes a stop at the Brilliant Suspension Bridge in Castlegar, a walking tour of downtown Nelson by local historians Ron Welwood and Greg Scott, a guided tour of Nelson's newly renovated Canadian Pacific Railway Station by Construction Manager Joern Wingender, and a bagged lunch!

"How I Caught the Heritage Bug" - Mark Forsythe

Beat the morning registration rush by registering early and collecting your delegate pack on Thursday evening. Enjoy gold rush themed cocktails and appetizers at our early registration event hosted by the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre. Former CBC radio host and four time author Mark Forsythe, will share his growing awareness of heritage values in B.C. and in his own backyard of Fort Langley. Free admission.

Get out and explore Rossland and Trail with our free walking tours. All you need to do is register in advance! The walking tours (and one carpooling tour) includes:

  • Walking Tour of Downtown Rossland
  • Tour of Rossland Museum
  • Tour of Trail (car/carpooling req)
  • Walking Tour of Columbia Cemetery

Education is a top priority at the conference, this year we have selected top speakers and topics based on our members evaluations from past conferences. These new and exciting topics will help to expand your skill sets as well as giving you the opportunity to earn credits with the PIBC and AIBC.
