Since 1981, Heritage BC has worked alongside communities across British Columbia to protect, celebrate and sustain heritage in all its forms.

As we mark our 45th anniversary, we’re proud of the collective impact made possible by our partners, funders, volunteers, and supporters. Every project funded, program delivered and resource shared contributes to a stronger, more connected heritage ecosystem across British Columbia.
As a non-profit organization, our work is built on the dedication of past and present volunteers, board and committee members, and staff. We also gratefully acknowledge the Province of British Columbia for its foresight in establishing the Heritage Legacy Fund, which continues to support heritage initiatives across the province, along with the generosity of our program sponsors.
A highlight of the year will be the 2026 Heritage BC Awards ceremony on May 5, featuring a special 45th anniversary celebration. The event will recognize excellence in heritage conservation, leadership and community impact across the province.

As part of our 45th anniversary year-long celebration, we were proud to kick off BC Heritage Week on February 12 with a virtual launch event, Food to Thought, presented in collaboration with the British Columbia Food History Network. Featuring Dr. Linda Peterat and Dr. Gale Smith, the session explored how food shapes our identities, communities, and society at large, while highlighting projects that position food as a powerful lens for advocacy, connection, and cultural expression – reflecting the spirit of connection and collective impact that has defined our work over the past 45 years.
