Best of the Shuswap Pie Baking Contest

Do you have a pie recipe you’re proud of — one that sparks conversation, brings people to the table, or carries a bit of family history with every slice? We’d love to invite you to take part in the Best of the Shuswap Pie Baking Contest, happening Saturday, February 21, 2026, as part of BC Heritage Week at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum. This year’s provincial theme, “Stir the Pot,” celebrates food as heritage — and there’s no better way to do that than through a homemade pie.
Heritage Week runs February 16–21, 2026, and throughout the week we’ll be sharing stories, hosting online activities, and wrapping things up with Family Fun Day at the Mall at Piccadilly. The Pie Baking Contest and Pie Auction are always a highlight — a chance to gather, celebrate local talent, and enjoy the traditions that connect us as a community.
Whether you’ve entered before or this would be your first time, the invitation is the same: test your skills, share your best work, and stir the pot with us. Pies are judged on authenticity, appearance, crust, and filling — all made the old-fashioned way, from scratch. Full contest rules are available by visiting www.salmonarmmuseum.org

And there’s more than bragging rights at stake. Our winning bakers earn the title of Best of the Shuswap, along with a commemorative ribbon, a special prize, and two tickets to Dinner Theatre at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum. Winners also become part of a small, proud group invited to donate a pie to the Best of the Shuswap Pie Auction the following year.
Last year, that auction raised $70,000 in support of the Heritage Village & Museum — a meaningful way to give back, and a special honour that connects your baking to the long-term care and sharing of our local history.
If you enjoy friendly competition, community pride, and the simple joy of baking something truly special, we hope you’ll join us.
We can’t wait to see — and taste — what you bring to the table.
Warm regards,
The Haney Team
