Langar – Eating Together: An Interfaith Lecture and Heritage Experience

Explore the Punjabi communal kitchen, Langar, a living tradition that brings people together through equality, service and shared humanity. This interfaith lecture will be led by Dr. Asma Qadri, Faculty Associate at the South Asian Studies Institute (SASI) and distinguished scholar of Punjabi language and culture, who will discuss Langar’s enduring role in community care, social ethics and fostering shared connection.

- Location: Sikh Heritage Museum, National Historic Site Gur Sikh Temple, 33089 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, BC, V2S 2B1
- Refreshments: Chai (tea) and light snacks provided
- Admission: Free and open to all
The lecture will be followed by a guided tour led by Dr. Satwinder Kaur Bains, former Director of SASI and renowned scholar of South Asian studies. Participants are also welcome to visit the nearby Gurdwara to experience Langar firsthand post-lecture. Chai (Tea) and light refreshments will be served during the event.
The event is hosted by the South Asian Studies Institute at UFV, which fosters research, community engagement and public education on South Asia and the South Asian diaspora.
