What’s in the Pot? A Celebration of Salt Spring Island’s Farming Tradition

February 22, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
TBD
Salt Spring Island Tractor

An open invitation to the people of Salt Spring Island and beyond to learn about the impact of agriculture on our island’s history and traditions, to discover the forgotten stories of the various people, families and communities, their amazing food harvests, and to discuss contemporary food security, who we are and where we come from.

In recognition of this year’s theme Stir the Pot, we invite islanders and visitors to find out What’s in the Pot? and explore what they know about the history of production of food on Salt Spring Island. What’s in the Pot? seeks to fill some of the gaps in local knowledge and identity.

The event will be held daily from 11am to 3pm, from Monday, February 16 to Sunday, February 22 at the Salt Spring Museum on the grounds of the Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute on Rainbow Road. The event is family-friendly, drop-in, school tours, seniors and youth are all welcome.

Walking tours will be provided by volunteers.
Admission is free, donations are much appreciated.

Salt Spring Island “will always be remembered as absolutely the first agricultural settlement in the then Colony of Vancouver (Island)” – Edward Mallandaine in his British Columbia Directory, 1887
