About the Webinar:
To meet Canada’s emissions reductions commitments, much work is needed to conserve and retrofit existing buildings, something heritage professionals have been doing for decades. This work has to be driven on both a national and local scale.
This webinar explores one such case: how the City of New Westminster has become one of few municipalities in Canada that uses heritage planning as a tool for building support for climate action, while encouraging sustainable building retention. Local students and a heritage homeowner share insights on what has made these policies successful and offer recommendations for the future of heritage and climate planning in BC.
