Webinar : Succession Planning for NPOs

About the Webinar:

In this session, Paul provides an overview of the key elements of a successful succession plan. The overview offers a focus on small organizations, where changes in volunteers and staff can result in the loss of institutional knowledge. Topics covered include, recruiting and retention, documentation, board recruitment, the role of board and staff, retirement, and stumbling blocks. Following the overview, the conversation turns to Ed Coleman and Jennifer Dunkerson who answer questions on their experiences in succession planning.

About the Presenters:

Paul Gravett worked as Executive Director to Heritage BC until 2021. He is a consultant in arts organizations with experience in strategic and business planning, governance, board development, operational restructuring, and more.

Ed Coleman has experience working in consulting in Vancouver and the Okanagan with small business. He worked as the CEO of Barkerville Historic Town and Park from 2014-2020.

Jennifer Dunkerson works as Heritage Planner at Heritage BC. She has experience in museum and historic site management, particularly with small museums and historical societies in British Columbia and Ontario.

As an organization of provincial scope, Heritage BC recognizes that its members, and the local history and heritage they seek to preserve, occupy the lands and territories of B.C.’s Indigenous peoples. Heritage BC asks its members and everyone working in the heritage sector to reflect on the places where they reside and work, and to respect the diversity of cultures and experiences that form the richness of our provincial heritage.
